The Latest Updates on Call of Duty WWII

Michael Fox | May 3, 2017 | Call of Duty | No Comments

The esports world is anticipating the pending release of Call of Duty: WWII on November 3. It is known that it will be on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. However there are a few new developments that have come about with regards to what the game will feature.

What Types of Maps Will There Be?

It is expected that many of the different maps for esports use will be based off of locations featured in the single-player mode in this game. These include various beach landing spots reflecting the Battle of the Bulge and D-Day.

There will be plenty of multiplayer maps as well. These location of the maps is France. This is especially as one key aspect of the single-player mode entails working for the French Resistance.

Dunkirk Could Be a Real Location

Some teasers have been suggesting that the Battle of Dunkirk will be a focus on some of the esports maps. This would be based of the battle where German forces trapped many Allied forces onto the beaches of Dunkirk. The concepts surrounding how the maps would be used for competition are unclear.

Divisions Will Work

Esports teams will have to be careful when choosing who will complete certain tasks in a match. This comes as there will be many divisions on individual teams. These include infantry and armored divisions. Each division will come with its own perks for individual players. They will require those players to stick with certain objectives or items.

It is unclear as to what types of vehicles they will use. They heavily featured tanks in some promotional materials. Sledgehammer is aiming for a strong sense of realism and attention to historical accuracy in this game.

Amazingly Graphic

One interesting point about the Call of Duty games is that they often feature little or no blood when characters die. For Call of Duty: WWII, Sledgehammer is planning on taking its quest for realism to a whole other level. Reports suggest that Sledgehammer is aiming to make death scenes as graphic as possible. It means they want to show what really happened on the battlefield at the time. How this will work is unclear but some gaming experts have stated that they felt uncomfortable watching some of those scenes.

The developers do say that they are not going to pull away from the darker side of the war. There are reports that there might be some racially questionable content. However they will offer content as a means of focusing on the realism involved with the game. This may include points about how there was segregation in the United States Army during the war. That point is no longer used in today’s society.

Female Characters Available

As a means of encouraging diversity among esports players, Call of Duty will include more female players. This doubles as a means of keeping up with the realistic nature of the game. There were hundreds of thousands of women serving in the French Resistance and with the Soviet Armed Forces during the war.
