Team Liquid Win The StarLadder Invitational

Vedran Ostojic | May 24, 2017 | Dota 2 | No Comments
Team Liquid Win The Starladder Invitational

The StarLadder Invitational proved to be one of the most surprising Dota 2 tournaments this year. The finals match featured two teams that rarely anyone could have predicted would be able to go that far. The final match of the StarLadder Invitational featured Team Liquid playing against TNC Gaming in a match for the title. Before this tournament, neither of these two teams had some good results that might lead someone to conclude that they will be serious contenders for the title at the StarLadder Invitational. However, surprises are possible, and with The International 7 being just two months away, there are more and more teams that will be contenders for the biggest prize pool ever.

The final match of the tournament was a five-game match as neither team took a 2 game lead earlier. In those four games, both teams traded victories, and everything came down to the fifth game of the final match. In the fifth game of the final, Team Liquid proved to be more focused and more prepared for the tough match and after very hard battled forty minutes of the game five, Team Liquid managed to secure the win in that game, and with that, they won the title at the StarLadder Invitational. Their win at this tournament just proves how Team Liquid has been playing in the last couple of months. Not that long ago, Team Liquid was playing at Dota 2 Asian Championship and at the Kiev Major. In both these tournaments, they failed to do anything worth of mentioning.

Both Teams On The Rise

However, just ten days after the Kiev Major, Team Liquid came at the StarLadder Invitational and won the title. This just shows that they are capable of great things but that they do not have consistency required for big tournaments. Besides that, it could have simply been the size of Kiev Major that got the best of them. Even though only eight teams were playing this tournament, Team Liquid managed to have some very good games. One of those was the match against Invictus Gaming in the semi-finals. Even though IG is not in good form which was yet again confirmed at this tournament, they were still favorites for the win. However, Team Liquid proved to be more successful, and IG were only able to snatch a single game in the match.

However, the effort that TNC Gaming displayed at this tournament will go as one of their best ever. Even though they were defeated in the finals, they can still be happy with this tournament. Justdays before the start of the tournament TNC Gaming had to make a change in the roster. After finishing the group stage in the first place, they managed to defeat Newbee in the semi-finals of the tournament. Because of the fact that only couple of days after making a roster change in their team, TNC Gaming managed to play the final of the tournament, indicates very bright future for them in the world of Dota 2 eSports competitions. With The International 7 getting closer, both teams can be happy with what they have done at this tournament.
