Team EnVyUs Qualify for the Overwatch APEX 8

Vedran Ostojic | June 5, 2017 | Overwatch | No Comments

Team EnVyUs has been on a roll recently, and by winning against the BK Stars yesterday, they have reached their fourth quarter-finals in a row which is more than an impressive record for this, predominantly western team. Team EnVyUs is currently one of the teams that are displaying the best form in the last couple of months.

The only team that currently can match their game and even be better than them is Lunatic-Hai, a Korean powerhouse, that have been dominating Overwatch competitions in which they participate. Interestingly, the potential matchup here is Team EnVyUs against Lunatic-Hai. It will be interesting to see which team will be more successful if it comes to that tournament.

The Long Struggle

Team EnVyUs is currently doing very well in the group stage. In their last match, they managed to defeat BK Stars as it was mentioned. With that win, they managed to secure the first place in the group only after three rounds. In the first two rounds, Team EnVyUs also managed to win. That brought them in the first place in the group.

Besides that, Team EnVyUs has swept all their opponents in the first three rounds. This is not something that we see every day in the Overwatch competitions. Just like it was the case in their match that they played last week against Rhinos Gaming Wings. Team EnVyUs displayed flawless performance against BK Stars.

Before the game, everyone was expecting a great duel between Joon-Hyuk ‘Bunny’ Chae and Kim ‘EFFECT’ Hyeon. However in the end, fans did not get any from that duel. From the first minute of that match was completely one-sided. BK Stars started the game strongly as they took the initial advantage. However Team EnVyUs managed to take control over the match and maintain it until the very end.

Unlike in some other previous competitions, Team EnVyUs has been using a lot more heroes in their matches. It seems to be one of the main reasons why they are doing so well recently. At some of the previous tournaments, Team EnVyUs was in serious problems, and they were losing matches because they were limited to a small number of heroes that could not do much for the team.

Current Standings

Currently, Team EnVyUs has the same record as LW Blue when it comes to the best team in the league, and there is only one team that could take them down from the first place, and that team is Afreeca Creecs Blue. However, in order for them to become the number one in the league, they will have to win in their next match with the score 3-1 or 3-0.

When it comes to the other groups in the competition, in Group A, Lunatic-Hai is once again dominating. It seems that KongDoo Panthere will be the team in the second place in group B. IN group. In Group B, Afreeca Blue and X6 Gaming have already secured the top positions even before the end of the group stage while in Group C, LW Blue is in the first place while the battle for the second place will be between CONBOX Spirit and MVP Space.

In the Group D, together with Team EnVyUs, Meta Athena will be in the second place, but in order to confirm that officially, they will have to win at least one map against RG Wings in their next game. Team EnVyUs is improving with each and single game, and that can be crucial for the team as they move to the elimination stage of the competition.
