SKT Keep Pole Position In LoL Champions Korea By Defeating Afreeca Freecs

Week 8, Day 2 has been a very interesting day when it comes to the League of Legends Champions Korea as it saw leaders SKT keep their pole position. The start of Week 8 saw the current leaders, SK Telecom playing against Afreeca Freecs who had a good record before this game that was played on Wednesday. The fans in Seoul had the opportunity to witness one of the best matches so far at this tournament, and these two teams have not disappointed at all.

Before the match against Afreeca Freecs, SK Telecom had the record 12-1, 24-6 and after the match on Wednesday their record has been improved even more. On the other hand, their opponents, before that match had the record of 7-6, 17-16 and their defeat against SK Telecom ruined their positive match record. The result of the match was 2-1, and this match proved to be much harder for SK Telecom than anyone could have anticipaded.

Tough Match For SKT

The first game was a demonstration of power by SK Telecom. Even though Afreeca Freecs entered the Game 1 with some new approaches and unique tactics that did not pay off very well for them. SK Telecom managed to control the game from the very start of the game and by the 8th minute of the match they already managed to have four kills. Three out of those four kills have been made by Han ‘Peanut’ Wan and his Lee Sin. One of the main reasons why SK Telecom managed to control the game as they did was Han ‘Peanut’ Wan who stepped up in this game, and he eventually lead SKT to the win in this match. As the Game 1 moved forward, Afreeca Freecs were not able to stop SK Telecom, and by the 27th minute of the game, SK Telecom has secured the Baron, and by the 29th minute of the game, the Game 1 was finished.

Even though Afreeca Freecs were destroyed in the Game 1, they managed to come back in Game 2. They managed to acquire two kills before the Game 2 hit the seven-minute mark and after that, Afreeca Freecs were able to control the game and slowly defeat SKT in that game. In Game 2, Afreeca Freecs won several very important teamfights early in the game, and after destroying the down and the right towers, Afreeca Freecs were on the road to winning the Game 2 and taking that match into the deciding Game 3. Similarly to Game 1, one man, Lee ‘Spirit’ Da-yoon with his Rengar managed to inflict a big would on SKT that they could not recover from.

Final Game Decides The Winner

With each team winning one of the first two games, it was hard to predict what might happen in the third and the final game. The Game 3 started very good for SKT, and by the 17-minute mark, they had two kills, and they managed to destroy two towers. In the next part of the game, SKT continued to increase their lead which eventually pushed Afreeca Freecs out of the game. The crucial issues for SKT’s win in Game 3 were the teamfights and with 3-for-0 and 4-for-0 teamfights in favor of SK Telecom, they managed to finish the Game 2 with a win.

SK Telecom’s next match will be against bbq Olivers and even though that it will be the once again very tough game, SKT should be able to keep the lead after that match as well.
