Overwatch to join ESL Australia and New Zealand Championship

ESL announced recently that Overwatch will also become the part of the Championship that they are organizing in Australia and New Zealand this year. This will be the first that Overwatch has been featured at this championship and fans are already very excited by the prospects of that happening. The prize pool for the Overwatch championship will be $12,000, and the qualifying online cups will start as soon as possible.
The announcement of this event indicated that the qualifying cups will be organized online throughout the months of March and April and two cups will be held in each month. Four teams from those two cups will then move on to the next round of the competition where they will be fighting for $1,000 AUD and the offline grand final of the tournament. Two best teams from the finals that will be played one in March and the second in April will then move on to the next stage of the competition which the grand finals that will be played offline.
The final stage of the tournament will be played in May, but the specific dates for the competitions are yet to be announced. Despite that, Overwatch eSports teams have already started with preparation for the qualifying matches because the first Overwatch Cup will be played this weekend.
In the end, this will be an amazing opportunity for those teams from Australia and New Zealand that usually do not have the opportunity or possibility to play in some significant tournament to show what they can do and possibly even break into the global eSports stage.
