Madison Square Garden Acquires Controlling Share in Counter Logic Gaming

Vedran Ostojic | August 8, 2017 | League of Legends | No Comments

Counter Logic Gaming have announced that the Madison Square Garden Company has recently purchased a controlling share of the company. The Madison Square Garden company opened its doors back in 1879 on East 26th Street and Madison Avenue. Ever since the company has been growing into one of the major companies of this kind. The company owns New York Rangers and New York Knicks and last to join them is Counter Logic Gaming.

The company has been leading a way in this industry for many years. It hosted the sold-out North American League of Legends Championship Series Summer Finals which attracted people from all US states. This was the first championship of this kind. It proved that world of esports is more than ready to command biggest stage as well. David O’Connor is CEO and president of The Madison Square Garden Company who was glad to share information about purchasing controlling share in the Counter Logic Gaming. He revealed that since that big championship, he has been actively searching for new opportunities in order to enhance company’s already rich portfolio. He believes that esports industry is a logical extension of their core business and he sees a great potential in this branch.

The Madison Square Garden Owns Several esports Teams

The Madison Square Garden has been in the entertainment and sports industry for decades. The company owns several sports teams and a great number of venues in the US. In addition to already mentioned New York Knicks and New York Ranger, it owns AHL teams, NBA G League, WNBA and Madison Square Garden itself. Besides being involved in sports, the company also operate theatres including Beacon Theatre and Radio City Music Hall.

They have been an amazing host to various esports events including ESL One New York 2014 and 2015 as well as 2015 NA LCS Summer Finals. They most certainly know how to provide best esports events and ultimate excitement for gamers.

The Founder of Counter Logic Gaming is Confident of Success

Counter Logic Gaming is a great player in the industry. CLG currently fields three CS:GO teams, two League of Legends teams, several SuperĀ  Smash Bros. players and an Overwatch team. CLG founder, George Georgllidis happily stated that the moment when CLG won at Madison Square Garden was one of the greatest moments for both teams. Both teams are excited to bring teams, players, and fans on esports greatest stage. He is confident it will be the best when it comes to the esports industry. George Georallidis will still stay at his position and will run day-to-day operations for Counter Logic Gaming. The only uncertain thing is his future title as a new corporate structure is coming. We are sure that the cooperation between him and new corporate structure will be more than successful.

There has been an epidemic within esports world since many esports organizations partnered with traditional sports investors like The Madison Square Garden Company. Counter Logic Gaming has been following this trend, so we are looking forward to seeing what they can offer to gamers and esports fans with their new partner.
