Kenny Schrub or kennyS as he is more familiar for in the world of eSports was born on May 19, 1995. His homeplace is a small town called Digne-les-Bains in France. Even from the very early stages of his professional video gaming career, kennyS displayed an enormous talent for Counter-Strike video games. Over the years, that talent grew, and he became one of the best players in the world.
He has not been a part of eSports industry for a long time and in those almost four years; kennyS managed to fight his way to the top when it comes to the individual Counter-Strike achievements.
As we have mentioned before, he was born in 1995, and even though he is just 22 years-old, many consider him to be a very experienced player who should use his experience in the matches. Just like it is the case with the huge majority of other players, his encounter with video gaming happened at the very early age. Since then, his entire life has been revolving around video games. It does not look like that might be changing anytime soon.
According to one of his interview, he has been playing Counter-Strike since he was a six-year-old. His older brother was actually the reason why kennyS started to play the game. According to his words, the first he sat at his brother’s computer to play CS everything changed. In a rare interview, his mother once said that at that time his family has been going through some tough time and being able to play Counter-Strike helped kennyS a lot to deal with those issues.
Already in the early stages of his childhood, kennyS displayed great talent and the potential for playing CS, and even though his brother was ten years older than him, he always found ways to defeat his brother. In the end, it was actually his brother who pushed him into the eSports as he convinced him to play at the local CS tournament in which kennyS managed to win.
That tournament marked the beginning of his professional career. In the early stages of his career, kennyS played Counter-Strike: Source. However he did not participate in those competitions too long. He quickly made a transition in 2012 to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. His first team that he played for was called VeryGames. However, at the time when kennyS was on the team, he was still a rookie, young and talented player but with very little experience.
Because of that, his time in VeryGames did not last long as he was soon released from the team. After leaving VeryGames, he played for several teams including Team eXtensive, WARMAKER, Team LDLC.com, WE GOT GAME, and Recursive eSports. All the time while he was moving from one team to another. He also used every opportunity he could get to improve his skills in the game.
Eventually, in 2014, kennyS signed a contract with Clan Mystik which was his first serious eSports team. However, just like it was the case with VeryGames, he did not stay long in Clan Mystik. After signing the contract in February 2014, he left the team in August of the same year. Ten days after leaving Clan Mystik, he joined a team called Titan. He will stay in the team for more than a year.
With Titan, his game and his results significantly improved but when Team EnVyUs came offering him a contract, he could not say no because at that team Team EnVyUs has been one of the best CS:GO teams in Europe. In July 2015, kennyS official said goodbye to Titan and joined EnVyUs. He stayed for almost two years in Team EnVyUs but in those two years, another French team, G2 Esports, came to prominence and once kennyS got the offer from that team, kennyS did not think a bit, and he joined G2 in February 2017.
The best days of his career have been when he played for Team EnVyUs. However 2017 looks very good so far as they have won some very important matches. However, his first Counter-Strike: Global Offensive competitions came in 2015 when Team EnVyUs won the Intel Extreme Masters Season X-gamescom. After that, Team EnVyUs participated in ESL One: Cologne 2015. Even though they did not win the title because Fnatic defeated them in the final, they still have a very successful tournament.
In the next year or so, Team EnVyUs will participate in many Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournaments. However, not all will be a huge success. Despite that, they managed to win some big tournaments in that year. Everything started with Gfinity Champion of Champions when they defeated Fnatic in the final match. After that, they faced Natus Vincere in the final of DreamHack Open Cluj – Napoca 2015. They defeated Natus Vincere as well.
After that, they moved to Season one Global eSports Cup. They also managed to win the trophy at that competition as well. The last tournament that they won during that period was Gfinity CS:GO Invitation. They defeated mousesports for the first place. 2017 started very good for kennyS and Team EnVyUs because they managed to win the trophy in January at the Esports Championship Series Season 2. That was the last tournament that kennyS played for Team EnVyUs before joining G2 Esports.
In a short period that he has been playing for G2, kennyS and his new team managed to win several titles. The first of those was DreamHack Tours 2017 where they defeated HellRaisers in the final match. Not even a month after that, G2 won another tournament, and this time it was ESL Pro League Season 5.
Throughout major part of his professional eSports career, kennyS was considered to be one of the best snipers in the entire world of CS:GO. However, that changed when the game introduced weapons mobility. Before that, almost all players, commentators, analysts and fans as well considered kennyS to be the best sniper in the CS:GO competition. Besides winning so many titles with different teams, kennyS biggest achievement so far is the ‘Player of the Year’ reward. He received it in 2015.
