FPS in CS:GO Dropping Ahead of Major in Krakow?
|
The next Counter-Strike: Global Offensive major tournament will be starting in a very short period of time. However, the organizers and the players have noticed a huge problem with the game. This has affected many professional players and their practices for the CS:GO Major. Apparently, many players have reported problems with the FPS or frames per second feature. This feature has been dropping significantly in the last couple of days.
The Krakow Major will be one of the biggest CS:GO tournaments this year. It will feature the prize pool of $1 million. Because of that, professional players expect all aspects of the game to be in good conditions for the competition. However, FPS has worried many of those players in the last couple of days.
Problems with FPS
Several Reddit users have indicated that their frames per second or FPS has been dropping in the last couple of days from 250 FPS to 150 FPS. There is no any apparent reason. Some Reddit users whose equipment features better graphics have even reported bigger drops on several maps of the game including Nuke, Inferno, as well as Cache.
The Reddit is truly a great place because many problems get solved by other users who have the same problem. The same thing happened with the FPS problem in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. Several Reddit users have posted that players who are playing on their consoles can use the following commands to fix the problems: ‘snd_updateaudiocache’ with ‘snd_rebuildaudiocache’, ‘r_dynamic 0’, as well as ‘snd_mix_async 1’ with ‘snd_mixahead 0.05’.
However, it does not seem that these commands are helping everyone who is facing these issues. Many players have complained that these commands have not fixed the problem but even made it worse. Because of that, those players have been calling on Valve to solve this issue as it might have a huge effect on the Krakow Major.
The Latest Update
On July 7th, Valve released an update for CS:GO. Many believe that this update was actually the reason why FPS rate has been dropping during the matches. The latest update from Valve for this game mostly dealt with the audio aspect of the game. This update introduced asynchronous audio mixing in order to improve the audio aspect of the game. According to the Valve’s announcement, this update introduced lower latency audio update that was meant to improve the audio aspect.
While it might have improved the audio in the game, the latest update seems to have affected the FPS of the game. One of the indicators that this update is the reason for this problem is the fact that that console commands that were added with this update are almost the same as the one that Reddit users and CS:GO players introduced as a solution for this problem.
Valve has yet to comment on this issue, but many expected that they will be fixing the problem even before they address it. They do not need a better reason or motivation to fix this big problem with CS:GO than the Krakow Major.
