EG and Secret in Group 1, OG and Virtus.Pto in Group 2 at The International 2017

There will be a great excitement for gamers and fans since the groups for The International 2017 group stage finally have been announced. We are all looking forward to seeing some of the teams face off against their biggest competitions. Matches that you don’t want to miss are those between major favorites Team Secret facing Evil Geniuses in Group 1. When it comes to the Group 1 there will be a great battle between Virtus.pro against OG. These teams are considered as major favorites for winning this tournament, so the fight will be exciting and tense to the very end. Gamers and fans from all over the world are coming together to witness some of the best matches that The International 2017 is bringing.

The Group Stage Will Feature Notable Matchups

The group stage of the competition features a great number of notable matchups. It runs from August 2-5, so make sure you don’t miss any match. This stage of the competition is bringing some of the major favorites on the battle field so there will be a plenty of exciting moments and over the top great plays. The first notable matchup is in Group 1 where Evil Geniuses will face off against Team Secret.  These teams have been great rivals ever since they appeared in their first big tournament. The matchups between European and North American favorites is highly anticipated.

Furthermore, another matchup that you don’t want to miss is TNC Pro Team against Fnatic. These two teams have finally an opportunity to prove their skills and to show which team will be an ultimate king. Both teams have undergone rebuilding recently, so it will be exciting to see what these changes have brought to the teams and how they can cope with great competition. Most certainly it will be an explosive fight offering great excitement for fans.

Virtus.pro and OG Will Face off The Kiev Major Grand Finals

When it comes to the Group 2, the most anticipated matchup is that between favorites Virtus.pro and OG. They will face off in a rematch of The Kiev Major Grand Finals, and this most certainly will be the most explosive battle of this year’s The International competition. Other matchups in Group 2 which are highly anticipated are Cloud9 against Digital Chaos. It will be a great excitement to see what these NA teams can offer before the main event. Invictus Gaming also seeks their chance to prove as a favourite for winning the competition even though they have experienced a recent decline. In the group stage, they will face off their Chinese rivals Newbee.

This year’s The International competition will bring a total of 18 teams which are divided into two groups of nine teams. Each team will face off another team from their group in a best-of-two series. Further, top four teams from each group will go to playoffs to the upper bracket. Teams ranked 5-8 will move to the lower bracket. The main event will be held at KeyArena in Seattle the first week of the August and there is an over $23 million USD prize pool.
