Dota 2 competition is one of the most popular eSports competitions in the world and being a professional Dota 2 player is not easy. Being a professional Dota 2 player requires a lot of effort, practice, and giving up. Because of that, Dota 2 players are currently some of the biggest stars of eSports. They are also some of the most respected players in the entire eSports industry.
One of those players is Anathan ‘ana’ Pham who has been playing Dota 2 for quite a lot time. However his career in Dota 2 eSports competitions is not that long. Despite that, even in a relatively short period of his career, he managed to achieve many things that many other players dream about achieving their entire career.
Anathan Pham was born on October 26, 1999, in Australia. He is one of the youngest players in the entire Dota 2 competitions so far. Even though his career started in 2016, he has been playing Dota 2 for a huge part of his life. Almost every story of the professional video games player is similar. It involves them playing the certain game from the very early age. This is exactly what happened with Anathan ‘ana’ Pham who has been playing video games, especially Dota 2, from the very early childhood.
In December 2015, ana made a decision that might have been crucial for the development of his professional career. He started playing Dota 2 semi-professionally in Australia. However Australian Dota 2 scene was not in a good position at that moment. Therefore he decided to move to Shanghai, China to pursue his dreams of becoming the professional Dota 2 player.
Because of his move to Shanghai, ana had to drop out from high-school. That did not go well with his mother he did not want to hear about it at first. However, after some time and after a big effort from ana’s brother to convince their mother that moving in Shanghai is the best possible choice for ana, she finally accepted and supported him in his decision.
The transition was not easy as he had to adjust to a new lifestyle and the city, new country, new people and all that while still being a sixteen-year-old kid. Because of that, the first couple of months were tough for ana as he struggled to find his footing. However, once the first offer came for him to join a Dota 2 team, things changed significantly.
During the initial stages of his professional Dota 2 career, ana was a part of the CDEC in-house league which enabled him to compete against some of the biggest names in Chinese Dota 2 scene at that time. However, short after that, he got his first opportunity to become a member of some of the biggest Dota 2 teams in the world, Invictus Gaming.
However, his road to the starting lineup in Invictus Gaming would not be an easy one. When he joined IG, he was a substitute player for Ferrari_430 who at that time was one of the biggest stars in Chinese Dota 2 scene. During his time in Invictus Gaming, ana did not play a lot of matches. The very year when Ana joined Invicuts Gaming, they participated in The International 6 which was not that good tournament for them.
Ana Leaving the Team
After The International 6, it was revealed that ana will be leaving the team. However, at that time the reasons for his departure were not revealed. It had taken some time before ana or anybody else was ready to talk about that period. Once they did, it was revealed that ana had huge problems with the organization’s management. They had conflicted opinions about the contracts and other issues. Because of that, ana eventually decided to leave Invictus Gaming. However he did not have any other team offering him a position in their team.
However, he soon received an offer from a team called OG. That team that was launched just a couple of weeks before he left Invictus Gaming. Ana took that offer, and a couple of months after joining OG, they won their first Dota 2 title at the Elimination Mode Season 2. However, this was just the beginning of the success that OG will achieve in next year or so. To this date, OG have become one of the best Dota 2 teams in the history of the game. Ana certainly did well for himself in joining them.
Even though OG does not exist for a long time, they are still one of the most successful Dota 2 teams that ever appeared in Dota 2 scene. Soon after they launch the team, they won their first title. However, they did not have to wait a long time before their first big title was in their hands. In October 2016, OG participated in the Boston Major 2016, and they had an amazing tournament.
In the end, they defeated Ad Finem in the final for their first Major title ever. With that win, ana became the first Australian player who won Valve’s event or a Major tournament. They did not stop there as the finished in the second place of the Dota 2 Asian Championship 2017. In April of 2017, OG participated in what will be written in history. That was the last tournament of that category, The Kiev Major.
That was a tournament that featured many surprises. Eventually, it came down to OG and Virtus.pro to decide who will be the winner of the Kiev Major. In an incredible match which is probably the best Dota 2 match that was featured in some competition in the last two or three years. The OG managed to win the title which was their second Major title in a row.
Because of that, ana and other members of OG have huge expectations when it comes to The International tournament. The tournament will be played very soon. Anathan ‘ana’ Pham has been professional Dota 2 player for little more than just one year. During that time, he achieved things that huge majority of Dota 2 players will never achieve. Because of that, considering that the is just 18 years-old, many believe that he might become of the greatest Dota 2 players ever.
